San Francisco 49ers Hawaiian Shirts

Scarlet and Gold. Since 1849.

In 1849, over 300,000 people poured into California chasing gold. They were called the 49ers. Nearly a century later, San Francisco named its football team after them and chose scarlet and gold as the colors. That connection between California’s greatest story and its greatest football franchise isn’t coincidence — it’s identity. Scarlet and gold belong to this city the way no other NFL team’s colors belong to their city.

This collection has 200+ San Francisco 49ers Hawaiian shirts built around scarlet and gold — fan-designed, all-over printed, sizes S to 6XL. Custom name and number options on select designs. Gear for the 49ers Faithful — in the Bay Area, across California, and everywhere Niners Nation travels.

What This Collection Is

Every shirt uses sublimation heat-transfer printing — dye bonds directly into woven polyester fibers. That’s how 49ers scarlet holds its specific bold, warm tone — the red of California gold miners, not a generic sport red — and gold stays rich rather than fading flat after a season of washes. The all-over print format means scarlet and gold cover the entire shirt — not a small SF logo on a plain chest.

The fabric is 100% woven polyester — lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking. Levi’s Stadium sits in Santa Clara — the heart of Silicon Valley — where September tailgates under California sun are the norm before heading into the stadium. This fabric handles that outdoor heat better than cotton without the heaviness.

Custom name and number options on select designs — look for “custom” in the product title. For 49ers fans who want something personal — a tribute to Jerry Rice, Brock Purdy, or a current roster player — these are the strongest gifting option.

The Dynasty That Began With a Catch — And Keeps Going

January 10, 1982. Candlestick Park. The 49ers trailing Dallas 27-21 with 58 seconds left. Third and three from the six-yard line. Joe Montana rolled right, three Cowboys defenders closing in. The play was supposed to go to Freddie Solomon. Solomon slipped. Montana backpedaled toward the sideline, pump-faked to get Ed “Too Tall” Jones to jump, and threw a high pass toward the back corner of the end zone that everyone — including coach Bill Walsh on the sideline — assumed was a throwaway.

Dwight Clark appeared from nowhere, grabbed the ball by his fingertips at the highest point he could reach. Touchdown. 28-27. “You just beat America’s Team,” Too Tall Jones told Montana. Montana replied: “Well, you can sit at home with the rest of America and watch the Super Bowl.”

That play ended the Cowboys’ decade of NFC dominance and started the 49ers’ dynasty. Five Super Bowls between 1981 and 1994. Four of them in the 1980s alone. Montana, Rice, Young, Lott, Walsh — a roster of Hall of Famers so deep that NFL Films called it “the dynasty that created the modern NFL.” The West Coast Offense Bill Walsh built in San Francisco became the blueprint coaches across the league adopted for a generation.

And then, in the 2022 NFL Draft, the 49ers used pick 262 — the very last pick, earning its holder the traditional title of “Mr. Irrelevant” — on a quarterback named Brock Purdy. He was third on the depth chart. When two quarterbacks ahead of him got injured, Purdy stepped in, won all five regular season starts, beat Tom Brady in his starting debut, and led the 49ers to the NFC Championship as a rookie. Then to Super Bowl LVIII the following year. Then signed a $265 million extension in 2025. The Faithful wear scarlet and gold for Montana and Rice. And now for the last pick of the 2022 draft who became the franchise’s next chapter.

The Faithful

49ers Faithful isn’t just a nickname — it’s an accurate description of a fan base that has passed its loyalty down through generations across the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Grandparents who were at Candlestick the day of The Catch. Parents who watched Steve Young throw six touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIX. Engineers at Apple and Google who wear scarlet and gold into Levi’s Stadium on Sunday and back to their desks on Monday.

The Faithful travel. They fill visiting stadiums with red and gold when the 49ers play away — enough of them that opposing teams sometimes operate on a silent count at home. They have been through the lean years between dynasties and come back every time. That is what Faithful means — not fair-weather, not bandwagon. The real thing, across generations, wearing the same scarlet and gold that California gold miners wore in 1849.

Finding the Right Design

The 49ers collection spans bold to understated. For maximum Niners visibility — high-contrast scarlet dominant designs with the SF logo or “SAN FRANCISCO” wordmark front and center work best for game days at Levi’s Stadium or watch parties anywhere in the Bay Area.

For everyday wear across the Bay Area, Silicon Valley, or anywhere in California — designs that weave scarlet and gold into larger tropical or floral patterns give the shirt more range. These work for a casual Friday in San Francisco, a weekend in the South Bay, or anywhere you want the colors showing without the shirt reading as full game-day costume.

For gifting — custom San Francisco 49ers aloha shirts with a personalized name or number are the strongest option for Faithful who already own the standard gear. Look for “custom” in the product title.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these officially licensed San Francisco 49ers products? Fan-designed, not officially licensed by the NFL or the San Francisco 49ers. Made by people who know why the play is called “The Catch” and not “The Throw” — and what Dwight Clark would say about that if he were still here.

Can I customize with a name or number? Yes — several designs include custom options. Filter by “custom” in the collection above.

How long does shipping take? Production: 2–4 business days. Standard US: 7–14 business days. Express available at checkout. Free shipping on US orders over $99.

Will the scarlet and gold hold after washing? Yes — sublimation bonds dye into the fibers directly. Scarlet and gold both hold well with this method. Cold water, gentle cycle, hang dry.

What if my size doesn’t fit? Contact support within 30 days. Size chart with exact measurements on every product page.
